My job is to coordinate the setting up of stalls for DSN at conferences for the various royal colleges. I have therefore contacted the BMA and the Royal Colleges, asking for cost-price stands at their conferences so that we can increase awareness amongst doctors of who we are and what we do. So far, we have had positive results from the Psychiatric and Anaesthetic colleges, and we hope to be able to man stands for these groups at the end of June. However, due to a lack of potential attendees and short notice, a promising conference place had to be turned down. If we hope to increase this area of publicity, we must once again ask for the support of you, our membership. If any of you are interested in contributing to this, I would be very interested to hear from you.  Letting other doctors in need know we are here for them is so important.

I was elected to the DSN committee at the 2010 conference. My background is in Anaesthetics, having experienced some difficulties whilst a Specialist Registrar. These started to emerge around the time I got my FRCA, in 2000, and resulted in me falling a long way behind my peers in training. I finally had to stop working in December 2007, and I have concentrated on working through problems which affected my ability to live a fulfilling life. I am now on the mend and making moves towards returning to work in Psychiatry.
